I believe creating a garden is only the beginning.

The real joy comes afterwards — watching it grow, change with the seasons, and become part of everyday life.

Every person lives differently, and every garden should too. Some are carefully tended, while others are allowed to grow more freely. I create gardens that feel natural to the people who live with them — gardens that can grow and evolve with their lives.

For me, a garden is not something simply to be completed, but something to enjoy, nurture, and discover over time.

Based in Christchurch, New Zealand, I work as a garden designer and illustrator, creating spaces inspired by nature, daily life, and the passing of seasons.

My journey with plants began in a small Kusabonsai shop in Tokyo, Japan. From there, I went on to work with a traditional landscape company with over 100 years of history, contributing to a wide range of projects including private gardens, commercial spaces, and rooftop gardens.

Over the past 25 years, I have been involved in many aspects of garden making. I have also hosted lectures and workshops for garden designers across Japan, sharing the beauty and philosophy of gardens and plants.

Alongside my garden work, I continue to work as an illustrator and writer, contributing illustrations and columns to garden magazines and publications in Japan.

Today, my work includes garden design, garden care and workshops — helping people create gardens that grow naturally with their lives.
